Today at my job I was talking with a fellow co-worker about the ergonomics of the workplace and work stations. I said, "What ergonomics!?" As I raised the arms of my one-handed body. After we had a very good laugh I explained my work environment situation. He had asked me if I stand a lot at work. "I do at times and I would like to do it more. But I have a very unique situation, I do not have two hands. So when I stand at my work station I have to decide on the height of the desk in relation to having arms of different length. What works well for my handed long arm is not so suited for my short arm with no hand. And the opposite applies. When the height of the desk is good for my short side it is not very comfortable for my long arm with the hand." Once he realized my situation and after we laughed pretty deeply he said, "that is something I never considered." I could only reply by saying, "why would you even consider it?" This podcast is about my unique workplace ergonomics.
