Our first speaker is Christophe Hodder, Climate Security and Environmental Advisor for the UN in Somalia. Mr. Hodder explains the climate change impact on Somalia’s different regions and the causes of both floods and drought in the country. Additionally, Mr. Hodder explores the links between climate change, state-building and governance. We also interview Nawal Sharif, the Ecosystems Restoration Advisor to Dryland Solutions, an organisation working towards ecosystem restoration in Somalia. Ms. Sharif sheds light on how ecosystem conservation helps end poverty and combat climate change. Ms. Sharif also talks about how Dryland Solutions’ work contributes to forging stronger community bonds and helps develop climate change adaptation measures.
