LSU QB Jayden Daniels is committed to being the best QB in the country – can he do it?
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels decided to exercise his fifth year and come back to LSU for a second year after spending the first three years of his career at Arizona State. After a hot-and-cold beginning of the 2022 season, Daniels helped lead LSU to victories over Ole Miss, Alabama, and Arkansas to secure the SEC West and compete for an SEC Championship in both his and head coach Brian Kelly's first season with the purple and gold. Coming in to year two, he is more confident, he is stronger, and he knows the expectations for a starting quarter back at LSU. So can he achieve his goal of becoming the best quarterback in the country?
There could be one big thing in his way: lack of depth. Head coach Brian Kelly spoke with the media and outlined the high expectations he has for the team as a whole and for each individual player. But one weakness that he sees of the team is the lack of depth. LSU football has faced several injuries throughout spring practice: veteran safety Major Burns will miss the rest of spring practice, Maason Smith is returning from an ACL tear, safety Greg Brooks has struggled with an ankle injury for the last few weeks, and that doesn't even scrape the surface of Tigers dealing with bumps and bruises throughout the offseason. If LSU is faced with a similar injury bug throughout the season, do they have enough quality players to compete in the SEC, the most difficult conference in college football?
