This week on #TubtaNabadda we examine press freedom and human rights in Somalia in the lead-up to next week’s World Press Freedom Day.
In the show, our guests take a closer look at the relationship between these two vital issues, with a particular focus on the women journalists’ situation.
The first speaker, Ahmed Shariifka, a human rights and training officer at the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ), gives an overview of how the Somali media contribute to the advancement of human rights in Somalia.
Our second guest, Naima Salah, the deputy chief editor at Bilan Women Media, explains what makes Bilan Media different from other organisations and sheds some light on the challenges of being a woman journalist in a traditionally conservative society.
The programme is presented in Somali by Ali Gutale and Fathi Mohamed.
