Episode 62: Continuous redemption with Mark Syhlowy
May is here! Friend and fellow Desert Springs podcaster Mark Syhlowy joined our host Sarah Schalow in the studio to share his story. Mark cohosts The Now Life podcast with Shawn Jones and we're so glad that we got the opportunity to get to know him on a deeper level today. Mark begins his story by describing his childhood growing up in Buffalo, NY (Go Bills!). He explains that some of his earliest memories involve him struggling to feel loved and accepted. As early as 14 years old, the feeling and pressure of wanting to belong led him to become involved with drinking and things of that nature. Mark continued on in that lifestyle until finally in his early 20s some people around him started placing their trust in Jesus and he soon came to know the Lord as well. Though Mark experienced salvation it was a process to let go of certain things in his life, but it was from that moment that he felt the redemption of Christ beginning to work. Mark continued to do his best to follow the Lord, seeking Christian community and surrounding himself with people that could help him grow. He moved to Arizona in the early 2000s and started attending Desert Springs shortly after. We don't want to give it all away here, but we really appreciate Mark's vulnerability. You're going to hear his heart on multiple struggles and the way he feels the Lord is continuing to redeem him through them. He also shares that his children are the some of the greatest examples of how he has seen Christ's love. You will certainly see the thread of redemption in Mark's story and will be encouraged to remember the worth that we have in Christ; there is nothing or no one that is too far gone.
