Rob Campbell has been in the headlines a lot this year after his very public removal as chair of Te Whatu Ora.
He has been described as a 'colossus of corporate New Zealand', but it was as a committed trade unionist that he first came to public prominence, frequently incurring the wrath of then Prime Minister Rob Muldoon.
In the late 1980s, Rob Campbell resigned from his union roles and took on business directorships & consultancies; with virtually every company he has chaired seeing substantial growth in performance, shareholder returns and employee engagement levels.
He holds a Masters in Economics, was named as Chairperson of the Year in the Deloitte Top 200 awards, and in 2019 was awarded a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to business.
Rob Campbell joined Simon Barnett & James Daniels for this week's Six And A Song.
