Blank Paper Discharges for Violent Offenders feat. Davis Winkie
This week, Francis speaks Army Times reporter Davis Winkie (@davis_winkie) about a recent investigation he published, which discusses how the Army often administratively discharges soldiers for domestic violence–sparing them a possible criminal conviction even when military prosecutors wanted to refer the cases to the civilian justice system. According to the report, around 450 people discharged administratively in lieu of courts martial over the last 10 years were charged with violent crimes, which means they were spared sex offender registration, prison time, and more.
