The Rational Egoist: Exploring Education, Rights, and Parental Choice with Manju Gerber
The Rational Egoist: Exploring Education, Rights, and Parental Choice with Manju Gerber Join host Michael Liebowitz on "The Rational Egoist" podcast as he delves into thought-provoking discussions about education, individual rights, and parental autonomy. In this episode, Michael interviews Manju Gerber, the President of Moms for Liberty at Hartford County, CT, a group for parents seeking to make introduce a new education system to align with their values. The conversation takes an interesting turn when they explore the concept of rights and how it relates to education. Manju argues that certain aspects of the curriculum, such as racial education, sex education, and LGBTQ education, violate a child's rights. However, Michael challenges this viewpoint by emphasising the that true rights encompass the freedom to not attend school at all or to abstain from specific subjects, rights do not encompass just one viewpoint. True rights would focus on advocating for a separation of education from government control, granting parents the ultimate authority to decide what their child learns. While the group Manju represents seeks reforms within the current system, Michael raises the critical point that their cause is more about parental choice and individual preferences than true liberty and rights. Join "The Rational Egoist" with Michael Liebowitz and explore the intriguing dynamics of education, rights, and parental decision-making in a thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating conversation with Manju Gerber, from Moms for Liberty.
