Wait, Am I The Problem Here? | Tiffanee Cook - 587
"Am I the problem here?"
There's a question we rarely ask ourselves but should. How often do we point the finger at all the things that don't go our way and all the people who let us down, hurt us or make us feel inadequate? Well, the reality is that doing so might pass the buck in the moment, but it's not all that liberating, is it? In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that I feel it can really reinforce a state of learned helplessness. When I ask myself how I've played a part in undesired outcomes I regain the power to learn and grow from what my results are telling me.
People have let me down. Yeah, sure some people won't have our best interests at heart no matter what, BUT... Have I shown up for them the way I've expected them to show up for me? Have I expressed my needs and set my boundaries? Have I accepted recurring behaviours from them yet expected them to spontaneously change or deliver a different outcome?
Today's ep is reflecting on this question.
