This morning we discuss our appreciation of Jerusalem in advance of Yom Yerushalayim, celebrating Jerusalem's reunification, this Friday, May 19. We trace, based on the writing of Rabb Chaim Jachter, a practical consequence of this principle in helping establish the International Date Line that is accepted by Jewish Law. This is an extremely complicated subject, and we briefly discuss three main opinions on this, but we dwell on the opinion of Rabbi Yechiel Michel Tukachinsky, who sees Jerusalem as our Greenwich, the place from which everything starts.
