'Community Gas Retirement Roadmap': Friends of the Earth project co-ordinator, Freja Leaonard talks with Zero Carbon Tatura members
Freja Leonard (pictured) from Friends of the Earth in Melbourne was a surprise guest at a recent monthly meeting of Zero Cabon Tatura and told members about the group's "Community Gas Retirement Roadmap".
In talking about the need for people to get off gas and go all-electric, Freja mentioned what she said was a rather special Facebook page organized by Tim Forcey - "My Efficient Electric Home - switching off fossil fuels" - encouraging everyone to access the page and take note of the included advice.
At this point, Freja will launch the report for northern Victoria in Shepparton on Saturday, July 29, at a free barbecue organized by the Shepparton-based group, "Slap Tomorrow". The barbecue will see the sausages and onion cooked on an induction hotplate, powered by an electric car.
Beyond that, Freja will again be in northern Victoria promoting the idea of getting off gas and going all-electric at the Tatura Transition Towns annual film festival on Saturday, August 26, which has been formatted to illustrate the benefits of cooking on electric appliances.
