James Riley - Courage in times of transformation
“Bravery is not, not feeling scared. Bravery is feeling scared and doing it anyway”.
Considering a big life overhaul but need some motivation to make it happen? Our guest this week knows exactly what it means to step out of the successful and familiar to embark on something scary and brand new.
Meet James Riley, coach and owner of Run Unbound, former KPMG partner and men's captain of Ed's running club - Ranelagh Harriers. In this episode, James talks about the guts and bravery it’s taken to leave a well-paid, successful career behind to build a business around his passion for coaching and running as a dream job. He shares about the joys of running in the wilderness with friends, what it feels like to reach a career high and wonder what’s next, and how his perspective on success has changed as he’s re-evaluated what he’s looking for from life. As well as talking about this mammoth life change, James also fills us in on the euphoria of participating in the Bob Graham Round in the Lake District, and how he’s using the skills from his past life in this exciting new adventure.
Go Do:
Our Go-Do challenge this week is sure to get us all thinking about our own motivators and goals. Take some time to reflect on the following three questions:
· Who were you?
· Who are you?
· Who are you becoming?
We’d love to hear what emerges for you as you consider these questions. You can drop us a DM, send us a picture or tag us on instagram or linkedin, or send us an email: hello@runalive.co.uk
