This morning, celebrating Yom Yerushalayim, we discuss the contour of Jerusalem's significance, based on the thought of Rabbi Matisyahu Salomon. We explore the insight of Rav Chaim Voloshin that Jerusalem is the soul of the collective Jewish People. We examine Radak's comment on how everyone of us, wherever we live, can also be among the Guardians of Jerusalem. God is waiting for us in Jerusalem. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law.
