This morning we discuss the curious reason for repeating four verses in Hallel, the prayer praising God which is a hallmark of Yom Tov (including Shavuot this Friday and Shabbat morning). These lines are part of a conversation with a fascinating context, the improbable selection of David as King of Israel; improbable because of David's trauma and suffering as a child who was an embarrassment to his family (see especially Psalm 69). Based on Maharam MiPano, we explain why this backstory provides the essence and epitome of praising God, for everyone of us.
