Faith Cook: Every moment in my FFA career it has led up to this
Lee Maddox: Wilson Central FFA chapter member and current MTSU Ag major Faith Cook has been selected as Tennessee's candidate for National FFA office, she will be competing for one of six national officer spots when the National FFA Convention is held later this year in Indianapolis.
Faith Cook: Honestly, I'm willing to do as much preparation as possible if that means that I have that chance to serve not just the organization and the members but to serve the industry that has served me so well to serve the agriculture industry that has given me so much support and so many people that have made an impact on my life over the past five years.
Lee Maddox: This past year, Faith cook completed her year of service as a state officer serving as the association secretary. She has excelled over her FFA career in various competitions. And growing up on a small farm in Lebanon. She knew early on, she wanted to be a part of the FFA.
Faith Cook: That journey started back when I was in about second grade with my dad. We were in the garage organizing some boxes down there. And he found this dusty jacket and it was this blue corduroy jacket and he just found it in a box randomly. And he pulled that jacket out. And I will never forget that moment because that was the moment that I realized that that was something I wanted to do.
Lee Maddox: Faith Cook is now a junior at MTSU majoring in animal science and agriculture education and regardless of what happens at the national convention, she wants to become an ag teacher.
Faith Cook: Both of my parents work in the education system and I knew that teaching was something that I was really passionate about and really wanted to do for a long time. But it wasn't until I got to high school and got into that first agriculture class that I realized that that was where I was meant to be. I was supposed to be an agriculture teacher. Because FFA has given me so many opportunities and I just want to be able to give even one student that opportunity.
