Pride Month celebrates and commemorates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) pride which began after the Stonewall riots in the US in 1969. In this special diversity and inclusion episode we talk to Dr Rayner Tan, Chairperson and Director of The Greenhouse, about the progress that has been made since then, the importance of allyship, LGBTQ+ Youth, and Rayner’s personal story that eventually led him to serve in The Greenhouse.
The Greenhouse is a substance addiction and trauma recovery centre for marginalised communities, providing customised care that is holistic and integrated, within a safe and supportive environment. The targeted communities are LGBTQ+ members, ethnic minorities, trauma survivors, people with inbalanced mental health, addiction issues, living with HIV/AIDS, as well as for ex-offenders who have been incarcerated and who may face challenges with reintegration back into family and society. The Greenhouse, www.thegreenhouse.sg, is mainly funded by donations.
