In this episode of “In Stride,” Sinead is joined by Grand Prix dressage rider JJ Tate.
Jessica Jo “JJ” Tate is a USDF bronze, silver, and gold medalist that has trained over 29 horses to the FEI levels, 8 of those being Grand Prix horses. JJ has been long listed for the World Equestrian Games and represented the United States in the 2007 FEI World Breeding Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany. JJ more recently won the Dressage at Devon World Cup Grand Prix in 2018 and the Global Dressage Festival CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle in 2020 on her longtime partner Faberge. JJ is also the founder of Team Tate Academy, an online training platform for dressage riders.
In this episode, JJ discusses various topics related to mindfulness, including:
• Being diagnosed with breast cancer and how that changed her perspective of the world.
• The role meditation has played in helping her become the best version of herself.
• Having integrity and content in the riding so that we are serving the horse and not our ego.
• The connection between natural horsemanship, classical dressage, and eventing.
• How Team Tate Academy has allowed her to give back to the sport by sharing the great education she received.
Join JJ and Sinead in this exciting conversation on connecting with ourselves and our horses.
