Simone Kessell isn't afraid of female rage and female trauma - she's embracing it
Simone Kessell has been acting for over 20 years - a few highlights from her extensive body of work include the original Australian favourite Heartbreak High and the iconic Hercules series. But at 47, it's her latest project that has gathered something of a cult following.
With two seasons under their belt, Yellowjackets has already developed an intense fandom who are singing the praises of a drama series that finally portrays trauma and female rage in a new and complicated way. And Simone is here to talk openly and honestly about why her work on the show has been a career highlight.
On today's episode of Under The Gloss, Phoebe chats to Simone about the reality of portraying the dark subject matter at the heart of Yellowjackets, her 'car lifting' moments, being a Maori woman on a mainstream drama series and how women in their fifties are her greatest source of inspiration.
