Book II : Chapter XXXIX - Sleeplore - Clyde Rosencrance
On the second episode of the evening, I sit with an absolute staple in the Scranton. PA music scene, Clyde of Sleeplore. Combining elements of Post-Rock, Shoegaze, Britpop, 90's Alt Rock and Indie, Sleeplore harnesses an emotional charge that even it's creator doesn't fully realize it's impact upon the beholder. that is, actually, what makes this work so beautiful. it is devoid of pretense.
Featured in Alternative Press’ “100 ARTIST YOU NEED TO KNOW” print issue 391, Sleeplore is the brainchild of American songwriter & producer Clyde Rosencrance. Hailing from a nondescript region deep in the woods somewhere between the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeastern U.S., Sleeplore’s sound calls on elements of discovery and the comfort of isolation. Weaving a thread to combine hypnagogic visions with a contrived production style, Sleeplore offers listeners a sonic template from which they can contemplate their own unique stories.
The project’s enveloping sound is influenced by artists such as Sparklehorse, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, & Coldplay. Listeners will appreciate the mixture of familiar rock song structure with immersive elements that pull those listening into a contemplative state.
Rosencrance’s formal tenure in music spans more than 15 years. Throughout that time he has released several collaborative works from the raw college rock and alternative sounds of The Magdalyns (dubbed “Skeleton Rock”) to more contemporary rock and roots-based sounds like Ourafter and Dalton 45’s. He has shared also the stage with an array of notable artists including Yellowcard, The Roots, and Everclear.
Clyde has also produced for many other artists both independently and through his personal studio, Republic Audio Studio. Often referred to as a “5th member of the band”, he helps drive their vision to realization & adds unique elements that offer a sonic signature.
