Something I did not consider about Trump over the years is that one reason the Republican establishment and Conservative Inc. hate him is that he is their fun house mirror. It is not just that he calls their bluff on their posturing about endless war, trade and so forth. That is certainly a big part of why they hate him. Trump proves that the people who vote Republican have a different view of politics than the people claiming to represent them.

Another reason hey hate him, though, is that Trump is an exaggerated version of Republicanism. He makes all sorts of big claims, but never follows through on them. It is not just that he is incompetent or that he is confronted by the regime fighting him at every turn. Those things are true, but Trump is not really interested in these topics all that much either. He loves the marketing side and the bragging side, but the following through side is not all that interesting to him.

We are seeing it with the woke business. Trump cannot bring himself to come down on the decent side of this issue because he does not care about it. Everyone he knows thinks the opposition to this stuff is mean and unnecessary. In the show I talk about how he is quoting the liberal line on woke, claiming that no one has a definition for the term. That is a tell. Whatever he will eventually say about the issue, is just what he thinks he needs to say about it. Otherwise, he does not care.

That is the Republican Party and Conservative inc. in a nutshell. They say what they think has to be said to close the deal with white people, but in private they agree with the crazies. They may think the crazies go too far, but the line that is “too far” is always up for debate. They hate Trump because he is just a crude version of them. They look at him and they see a buffoon, but they also see themselves and they hate him for it.
