Katy Benoit was a bubbly, young, happy and personable graduate student of psychology at The University of Idaho. While she had briefly entered into a romantic relationship with a 31-year-old teacher's assistant at the college, Ernesto Bustamante, she had broken up with him and was trying to move on with her life. But Bustamante was making that difficult. He was stalking Katy and had threatened her with a gun on more than one occasion. Even though Katy reported his behavior to campus and local police, on the night of Monday, August 22nd, 2011, Katy's life ended in tragedy.
Lisa Stuckey was in her 70s and lived in Ammon, Idaho. She had befriended her neighbors, Alan and Wendy Lively, after her husband passed away, and they introduced her to Alan's elderly stepfather, Dwayne Heimer, who was dying of cancer. Lisa and Dwayne soon began dating and Lisa moved in with him. Not long after, Dwayne changed his will to leave Alan and Wendy and their two children completely out of it. This created a rift between Lisa and the Lively family which included Alan and Wendy's two adopted children. In June 2017, Lisa Stuckey was found inside her home, brutally beaten to death, and the killer would turn out to be the most unexpected person of all.
