Reporter's Notebook: Getting children back into the classroom amid COVID
As part of the on going School Matters series, CBS News national correspondent Meg Oliver has been covering efforts to have students return to in-person learning this school year. She visited a New York City school with Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to find out his plans for a safe school year. A new CBS News poll finds 69% of parents are concerned their kids will get COVID in school. The poll also found around 6% of parents are against mask mandates, Oliver attended a contentious school board meeting in New Jersey to see how the meetings are becoming flashpoints for parents frustrated with COVID guidelines, and with each other.
