EUGENIA CONSTANTINOU | The Crucifixion of the King of Glory (Ep. 470)
In this episode, we welcome Eugenia Constantinou to the show. She is a bible scholar, retired professor, and holds five degrees in theology including Master of Theology degrees from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and Harvard Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from Université Laval where she specialized in the Apocalypse in the ancient Church. She’s also the author of Thinking Orthodox: Understanding and Acquiring the Orthodox Christian Mind and her most recent book The Crucifixion of the King of Glory: The Amazing History and Sublime Mystery of the Passion. In this interview, we discuss the damage modernity has done to manhood and boyhood, the differences between Orthodox Christianity, Protestantism, and Catholicism, why the historical and cultural context of the first century is imperative to understanding the crucifixion of Christ, why we can trust the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ life, why the Jewish leaders aimed to completely humiliate Jesus while murdering him, the details of a Roman scourging and crucifixion, the significance of the words Jesus said while hanging from the cross, why she plans to focus her future scholarly work on the Resurrection, and much more. Let’s get into it…
