When Paul was installing Timothy as pastor in Ephesus he gave instructions for his pastoral ministry. One of the things he admonished him was, "See to it that ye endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." And not "to entangle himself with the affairs of this life, but ever live to please Him who had chosen him to be a soldier." 2 Timothy 2:3-4.
There are certain people Jesus Christ chooses to be His soldiers. Many believers have learned to warfare, but it is not a calling. I believe all believers should know how to "fight the good fight of faith." There are no pre-qualifications of them He chooses. It is whom He chooses and not the person choosing first.
These soldiers are a division of His Kingdom. They are called to perform specific commands that are always met in the realm of prayer. It is by far the hardest road and becomes the soldiers life. Yet they would have it no other way.
Do you sense and feel in your heart that Jesus is choosing you to be one of His good soldiers? If you are agreeable to His call than go to Him and respond. But do not do it without truly meaning it. If you accept then present yourself to the Lord and answer the call. Make it official to the King.
"The Lord gets His best soldiers out of the highlands of affliction."~ Charles Spurgeon
