10@9 A Mental Health Emergency in our Parsha - June 16, 2023

This morning we uncover the mental health emergency that led to the entire Jewish People simply accepting the report of the spies, with no pushback. Using the insight of Rabbi Reuven Taragin taught to me by my friend Benji Friedman, on the way the narrative is told later, in Devarim, we see a completely new root of the problem, and it is precisely and tragically what is reflected in too many of those we love and care about suffering in the mental health epidemic we are now facing. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
