Cory Ring, one of the most low key innovators in the gaming community, founded Cigar Box Battle mats many, many years ago. If you're using a highly crafted battle mat with images of fields, asteroids, stars, water features, etc, it's more than likely his! Definitely not trying to be inflammatory here, but in all seriousness, Cory is one of those innovators I hope everyone gets to know.
