McLaren's under-the-radar star Alexander Rossi on his big 2023 move
Arrow McLaren IndyCar driver and ex-Formula 1 racer Alexander Rossi joins this week’s episode of The Race IndyCar Podcast to talk about his strong maiden year with his new team.
Rossi has been one of the under-the-radar stars of the year and could be as high as fourth in the championship had two other results not gone against him, netting four straight top 10s heading into this weekend's race in Mid-Ohio - traditionally one of his strongest tracks.
Rossi tells hosts Jack Benyon and JR Hildebrand about his preconceptions joining McLaren, gives his take on how well his team have handled expanding to three cars, and discusses managing the weight of expectation that comes from being someone who has previously been a regular championship contender.
He also gives a fascinating insight into what it’s like to be managed by his father, discusses what race and car he wants to drive next after Baja and Australian Supercars outings in the past, and explains why he doesn’t have a bet with boss Zak Brown to drive one of the cars in his collection, despite his team-mates having such deals.
