Imagine – you are a squad leader in November 1944 just outside of German held Metz, France and you are part of a newly formed, untested infantry division. This is the divisions first ever combat action. You have just gotten your orders to launch a frontal night assault on a german held mill, across an open valley with german artillery holding the high ground just beyond it. This is the story we will explore with 100 year old S/Sgt Keith Muntz of the 377th IR of the 95th ID. Prepare to dodge artillery and mines Soldier, you are part of the division that will become known as “The Iron Men of Metz” and your fate is uncertain.
