#241 Today's Boondoggle- with Japanese ThrasHERs, Nemophila
In this episode Bill talks with mayu the vocalist and founder of the All-Female Japanese Metal band, Nemophila.
This is our first interview using a translator, which made things interesting.
We talk about the music scene growing up in Japan, things she originally wanted to be until she was exposed to American metal, how they decided on the name Nemophila and what it means, building their presence in Japan, and how much the internet helped their popularity grow across the globe.
We also talked about playing their first shows in the U.S. and what that experience was like, playing Danny Wimmers Aftershock festival while pregnant, debut album Revive hitting the top ten in Japan, why Japanese women are such badasses, any type of resistance they have met culturally and musically, plus so much more.
