How to Optimize Your Fish Finder and Transducer
On this special episode of the Northwest Florida Fishing Report, Joe Baya and Butch Thierry are joined by Chris Price of Blue Water Ship Stores to discuss optimizing your fish finder and transducer. Chris provides help on common problems that decrease performance, such as the fish finder not reading the bottom while running or in deep water, as well as tips on how to install a transducer and where to install a transducer - such as a through hull mount vs. a transom mount, side scan vs. down scan, and avoiding interference when using the position hold feature. He also explains the different types of transducers to choose from, the materials to look out for, transducer power and frequency, and cone angles. Chris further shares tips on properly using a fish finder, such as the latest software updates, restoring factory settings, and setting zoom and gain depending on the conditions. Lastly, he recommends the best fish finders under $500 or under $1,000 when budget isn't a factor. Tune in to this episode of the Alabama Saltwater Fishing Report to get Chris's expert advice on fish finder and transducer optimization. Enjoy this information packed show!
