Book II : Chapter XLIVII - Plight - "Plastic Sun" w/Matt Curtis
Tonight, we are pleased to offer our discussion with vocalist and guitarist Matt Curtis, of A La Carte Records artists Plight. Hailing from Brooklyn, NYC, Plight have been gaining a lumbering momentum since the Linger E.P. and B-Sides single dropped in 2019. In January of this year, they released the seismically melodic "Plastic Sun" to great fanfare and critical adoration. Using elements of Quicksand, Hum, Seaweed, Helmet, Handsome, Slowdive, Smashing Pumpkins, and Weezer, and combining influences with their own imaginative twists and turns, Plight have forged a singular path. A monolithically hefty sound that lulls as much as it bludgeons.
From their Bio-
Brooklyn-based four piece Plight has spent the last five years making a name for themselves in New York City. Now with their debut LP on up-and-coming imprint à La Carte Records, the sound of Plight has evolved into a concoction of chunky power-pop anthems, wall-of-sound shoegaze, and morose slowcore ballads.
“Plastic Sun” is now available via à La Carte Records. Purchase the album on vinyl, cassette or digitally here.
