69 {Lynda MacCallum} Conquering MS with unwavering determination
This weeks episode is all about overing MS or Multiple sclerosis
Lynda MacCallum grew up on her family’s sheep and cattle property in a little district called Timor, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.
In 2018 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and to many that would see an end to any career that requires hard physical work with animals like horses.
Instead she has gone on to run MacCallum Performance and achieve so much more.
In this episode Lynda shares:
- The moment she started to develop symptoms of MS
- How she had to lay on a bench in the doctors office to get a diagnosis
- The grieving process of letting go of who you were before MS
- How she learnt to listen to herself and learnt to say no
- The journey she went on to not allow her illness to define her
Key Quotes
“I did grieve that person that I’d been and the person that I couldn’t be.”
“I need to live every moment for what it is and take the good out of every moment.”
“I need to learn to listen to myself and do what I need even if that means saying no to something that my husband or my children want me to do.”
