10@9 Understanding Tisha B'Av from Archaeology - July 10, 2023

This morning we deepen our understanding of Tisha B'Av, based on the work of (my cousin) Dr. Jill Katz, professor of archaeology and anthropology at Yeshiva University. Dr. Katz explains the significance of the fall of Beitar, and the plowing of Jerusalem, in terms of the psychological impact of Churban, the destruction of the Temple and exile of the Jewish People. Happily, it is the effect of these events that is being reversed today. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation.
