Maximising water productivity and improving crop management: is remote sensing technology the answer?
AgriFutures Rice Program is focused on ensuring the industry is a global leader for improved water use efficiency. Under the AgriFutures Rice Program Strategic RD&E Plan 2021-2026, they outline an ambitious goal of increasing water productivity to an average of 1.5 t/ML by 2026. To do this AgriFutures Australia is focusing on four key objectives, one of which is improving the industry’s agronomy and farming systems.
In this episode of AgriFutures on Air, our host Jayne Cuddihy caught up with two of the rice industry’s leading researchers. They are managing research projects funded through the AgriFutures Rice Program and discussed how their projects aim to improve crop management decisions and maximise water productivity through using remote sensing technology.
