Although Meyer Lansky wasn't technically in the American Mafia, he was a significant figure that helped the Mafia become dominant in the 1950's along with Lucky Luciano and Bugsy Siegel. He was instrumental in getting the gambling business started in Cuba before Castro took over which brought the Mafia millions of dollars. Nicknamed "The Mob Accountant" he is said to have been the money man behind a lot of Mafia endeavors and was a primary investor in the Flamingo Hotel which Bugsy ran and the reason he was killed.
