Philadelphia uses a private law firm, known as the landlord-tenant officer, and private security companies, to carry out many evictions. This practice has come under fire recently after two attempted evictions resulted in private security officers shooting off their weapons. In one case, a tenant was shot in the head and had to be rushed to the hospital.
