While I haven’t publicly shared this before, yesterday was a big milestone for me - it marked 5 years of sobriety.
I’ve wanted to share this for a while now, but something kept holding me back. Maybe it was the fear of what people would think, the need to craft the perfect story, or simply the procrastination of “I’ll share it next week, next month, next year.”
But honestly, I’m tired of feeling like I’m holding back my true, authentic self either publicly, on podcasts, in videos, or conversations, and I’m excited to just share this milestone with you all.
It’s been a hard, rewarding, challenging, meaningful, action-packed 5 years, the most fulfilling half decade of my life, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I have the best partner, family, friends, and support groups I could ever ask for, and I’m so beyond grateful for every single one of you.
There’s so much more to the story that I’m excited to finally share (the DUI, waking up in jail on Thanksgiving, the breathalyzer violations), and the stories and lessons are coming… but for now, I’m cheers-ing some Kombucha with my loved ones and enjoying each day, each moment for what it is.
Cheers to the next 5 🥂 (there’s booch in those glasses)
