Transition Awareness Breathing
Education:Self-Improvement
Eartha discussed concepts of mindfulness and holistic health in aging. She emphasized openness to the need for a non-harmful approach to aging, including critical thinking, vocabulary skills, and strategic development. During the early years, the focus of aging is highlighted on the importance of physical activity, social and professional networking, and stress management to maintain overall health and well-being. Aging is a normal process. Each moment we are all participating in the aging process- growing older. The focus on productivity, physical activity, and family growth is the spotlight in the younger year. In later years, some may notice a sense of emptiness (the “empty nest”) because the family unit and professional productivity have changed. Physical activity may also vary. During this episode, Eartha encourages the thought to include mindfulness practice in the early years so that a continuum of practice will be well established in later years. To begin building the mindfulness holistic link, Eartha dedicates the remainder of the session to exploring self-reflection, which gets in the way of positivity and positive self-talk. We can explore our biases and judgments first. Having biases and judgments can be positive or negative. How we manage our biases and judgment is what we will investigate.
Eartha discussed the impact of biases and judgments on various aspects of life, including productivity, job opportunities, relationships, and healthcare. She emphasized the need to recognize and manage biases and judgments in a diverse society and appreciate all individuals’ contributions regardless of their abilities, gender, or race. Eartha concluded the meeting with a loving-kindness practice to build mindfulness and promote peacefulness, happiness, and love.
