You Are Not Your Brain | Dr. Caroline Leaf - 640
When it comes to the big questions about what lives inside that scone of ours, this conversation with Dr. Caroline Leaf could very well be my all-time favourite! Exploring what lives at the intersection of mind, body and brain is a hell of a curious corner of the world to rummage around in. There's neuroscience, physiology and medicine. There's energy, spirituality and belief. And pending who you speak to, there are all shades of grey in-between.
Among a long list of credentials, Dr. Caroline Leaf is a cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology. Since the early 1980s she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health, and the formation of memory. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change (neuroplasticity) with directed mind input.
I throw some curly questions her way, seeking clarity around what and where is the mind and what is the nature of it's relationship with the brain? When we refer to 'I' where is that part of me and where does my identity live. Because if I have a brain and I have a mind... where is the I?
Dr. Leaf speaks with such clarity and simplicity around an incredibly complex topic... Making it digestible, applicable and easy to implement.
I hope you love it too.
