210: How is Mom Able to Recognize Certain Music, But Not Who I Am?
As it turns out, remembering who someone is and recognizing music that we heard long ago are two different types of skills. Recognizing music is different because it tends to have powerful emotions associated with them depending on what was going on in our lives when we first heard them. Another difference is that listening to music offers more of an opportunity to engage with it, as compared to staring at someone while you try to remember who they are. Join us this week as Teepa and Greg discuss how we can use music with our person living with dementia.
