Almost blaming the padawan for allowing his Master to die, he wonders what would have happened if he had not left the Jedi order, and had fought Darth Maul himself. If he had, he would have won, I think, and Qui-Gon would have gone to train Anakin Skywalker...changing the fate of the galaxy, entirely...
