Ep. 100: Jim Massett (Part 2) | Living Legends of Deer Hunting
Jim Massett has been hunting the vast Adirondacks in New York since the 1950's, and has taken over 100 mature bucks in his lifetime, most of them by tracking. He carried out many of his bucks by draping them over his shoulders and hauling them on his sturdy 130 pound frame rather than dragging. But the thing that struck me the most, even overshadowing his hunting accolades is the greatness of his character. Jim is a humble man of congeniality, ever willing to downplay his legend to raise up his peers. He's still in better shape than most men 15 years younger and full of life at 86 years old -- and sharper, too! After our recorded conversation about deer hunting and over a glass of wine at his dinner table, we talked about all aspects of life! We laughed a whole lot. It was a pleasure to get to know him and share that time with him, and I'm hoping many people will get to have a little bit of that experience with Jim at Huntstock this year. Jim's ears perk up and thirst to hear other people's stories which can be hard to find these days.
