UDM leader, Bantu Holomisa suggests that the DA and ANC should form a grand coalition
At yesterday's closing of the two-day National Dialogue on Coalition Governments at the University of the Western Cape, Deputy President Paul Mashatile called on the country to draw lessons from others and its own experiences on coalition governments. Mashatile gave examples of successful government coalitions when the African National Congress (ANC) worked with the National Party at the national level and the IFP in KwaZulu-Natal at the dawn of democracy. Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has accused the ANC of trying to hijack the dialogue, DA chief whip, Siviwe Gwarube says it became apparent during discussions that the government was already working on its own coalition legislation.
