All parents think that they fail and ask themselves questions such as “Am I an imposter?” or “Do my kids listen?” or just find themselves giving negative self-talk. Your kids often don’t live up to their full potential until you’re not around. Generally it’s when you’re not there that they’ll think of that thing you were trying to teach them and they’ll live it. Parenting is one of the hardest things either of us has ever done, but it’s also the most rewarding thing we’ve ever done and failure and struggle are just part of the journey.

“If you follow any of the people who give advice about parenting, what I like about them is they’ll give you real life examples about experiences that were tough and they’re telling us that this is the optimal thing to do, but even they find it difficult to do the optimal thing all of the time. They know what the right thing is to do, but they say it’s trial and error for them trying to implement it. It makes you realize that until you’ve done it once or twice, you won’t have a vision for it.” 5:30
