Mace Reveals Yoda's First Lesson to him as a Baby - Star Wars Explained
Mace Windu was the toughest Jedi Master some might argue in the Star Wars galaxy. However at one point, he was just a little baby Jedi Padawan, and even before becoming a Padawan, he was a little baby, in the possession of the Jedi Order, and primarily, Master Yoda, the Grandmaster of the Jedi Temple on Corsuscant.
Baby Mace would be dealt a difficult hand by Yoda when all he wanted to do was just play with his toy and be a baby, Yoda would have none of it! Thus, teaching him the art of possession and attachments from a young age.
I feel if Anakin had this training as a toddler, he would have been very different. The mistake the Jedi made was to have Anakin enter the temple at such an older age of 9, and then on top of that, to force him out of the attachments he already had made. This caused so much pain for Skywalker and it's something Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu could see as Jedi Masters. The force clouded their judgements, and when Sidious decided it was time to strike, they never saw it coming, leading to Order 66 and the downfall of the Jedi until Luke Skywalker showed up eventually to save Anakin within Vader.
Mace started young, and it shows here how strict they all were on him.
Makes sense why he's such a...you know...today.
