Why talk about curiosity? Because...we are all born curious! You can see it the most when you watch your little ones as they are explore the world around them. Isn’t that the best thing to watch? I'm sure you have seen your child get so excited and curious about something they have discovered. When your child is curious about something there is nothing that will stop them from learning about it. Unfortunately, we do a really good job of killing our kids love of learning, exploring and curiosity as they get older.
So how do we foster a lifelong love of learning and curiosity? Enter The Curiosity Blueprint! My guest, Mike Alpert who is the lead instructor of the Curiosity Blueprint, which is a flexible framework that empowers students to explore their own curiosity. As a former teacher and administrator, Mike wanted to create something to help parents help their kids learn and to help foster lifelong curiosity.
Mike’s Curiosity Blueprint works as a compliment to your kids learning as it teaches kids conduct research and create a project that will interest and educate their audience…so you don’t have to be the one teaching them how to do this (high five parents!!). It also fosters curiosity by taking your child on a self-directed journey that can fill their downtime with healthy, exciting inquiry. (in other words, so they aren’t mindlessly on a screen)
In this episode, Mike talks about why curiosity is important at all stages of life. We also talk about the need curiosity in ur parenting because judgement, and criticism can't exist when we ask questions and get curious!
