95: How Are Fawning, People-Pleasing, And Manipulation Impacting Our Relationships?
So many of us are familiar with fight, flight, and freeze trauma responses, but what about fawning? How does fawning lead to people pleasing? And how is people pleasing more than just a bid for connection, how is it a coping mechanism that has distorted to become a bit manipulative?
A very difficult lesson some of us learn the hard way is that people who are not treating us well won’t treat us better if we work harder. People pleasing may have been a survival mechanism when we were younger, but as adults, how can we evolve our tools to allow us to go from surviving to thriving?
This episode is a very gentle exploration of some taboo topics, so that we can begin to reflect on our own thoughts and behavior to answer the question, are we giving, or are we grasping?
If you think you may have accidentally spent your entire life making sure everyone else around you felt comfortable, only to realize, you never felt comfortable the whole time, this episode is for you.
