107. The Addiction of People Pleasing with Darren Waller
If you can identify as a self-proclaimed people pleaser, you are all too familiar with how addictive it can be. The inclination towards people pleasing often takes root in our childhood years, stemming from a primal instinct for survival and the fulfillment of our fundamental needs.
We learned somewhere along our journey that we received love when we pleased other people. This taught us to omit our true needs and desires and instead make decisions we feel other people will be pleased with, that will allow us to feel acceptance.
Join us this week as I sit down with NFL tight end Darren Waller of the New York Giants, as we discuss his addiction to people pleasing that ultimately lead to drug and alcohol addiction.
