Episode 161: The Mummy Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)

This week at The Film Club we’re talking about the final installment of The Mummy Trilogy, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The film takes place a decade after the events of The Mummy Returns, we learn that Rick and Evie have retired from adventuring. Their son Alex is on an archaeological dig and helps discover The Dragon Emperor’s tomb. While exploring the tomb traps are set off killing people apart of the dig and Alex encounters a mysterious woman who is trying to keep the emperor concealed from the archaeologists. Rick and Evie are now on their way to Shanghai to deliver an ancient artifact called The Eye of Shangri-La. When Rick and Evie land they decide to visit Evie’s brother Jonathan who happens to own a nightclub in Shanghai that’s named “Imhotep” and to their surprise they run into their son Alex who has a strained relationship with them. Things take a fast turn when the O’Connells discover they’ve been set up to not only find the resting place of the Emperor but also the artifact they brought to Shanghai was a tool to waking up the Emperor.
