The ACC has seen conferences like the Big Ten and the SEC sign huge money TV deals over the past 18 months, and a couple of teams in the conference have said it’s time for the ACC to help them keep up with the Joneses. On DBR Bites Episode 17, we discuss recent comments by Florida State and Clemson that call for unbalanced revenue sharing of the current TV money the conference receives. FSU called out the conference the other day, saying that “something needs to change” with regards to the current grant rights deal that runs through 2036. Clemson echoed FSU’s sentiments, with both calling for the ACC to give them more money because they draw the best TV ratings for football. Sam and Donald discuss FSU and Clemson’s desire for an unbalanced revenue sharing, with an eye on how Duke would be affect should the ACC even consider such a move. There’s also the angle of what would happen should FSU and Clemson try to leave the ACC, and whether the conference should attempt to get out of their current deal and restructure it so that it expires earlier, giving the conference member institutions a crack at a bigger slice of the pie. It’s a fascinating conversation to help jump start your day as you await Duke’s final home game tonight! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
